Actors Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, who tied the knot in 2017, have declared openly that they are getting divorced. Both the actors took to their social media to put a statement about the same on Saturday. The statement gave an end to months of buzz around couples parting their ways.
Taking to social media, Naga Chaitanya said, “After much deliberation and thought Sam and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.”
“We request our fans, well-wishers, and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thank you for your support,” the actor added. Samantha also issued a similar statement on her Instagram page.
However, from the past few months, it was widely buzzing in the media that the couple was leading divorce. The buzz got strength after Samantha indicated this by eliminating the surname of Akkineni from her Twitter and Instagram accounts, amending it to ‘S.’ However, even after many tries by the media to get a statement on the rumours about their alliance, the couple did not open up on this, and this added fired to speculation that all was not well in the marriage.
In a conversation with Film Companion, Samantha was questioned about the buzz, for which she reacted by saying that she will not be “bulldozed” into telling something just because people were discussing it. Samantha, not accompanying the birthday party of actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, her father-in-law, in August, also increased the speculation.
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu had been in a relationship for approximately two years, before they got married on October 6, 2017, in Goa at a rite amidst their families and near friends. The duo had held both a Hindu wedding and a Christian ritual. The pair had acted together in films like Samantha’s Telugu debut film Ye Maaya Chesave, the Tamil remake of Vinaithaandi Varuvayaa besides films like Manam, Autonagar Surya, and Majili.
