Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty in interrogation told Mumbai Police that the actor was not happy with the nature of his contract with one of the leading film production houses. The actor was found dead on 14th June ‘20 in his rented Mumbai apartment. The police is conducting the investigation in full swing. Rhea was questioned for more than eight hours on Thursday at Bandra Police Station.
“Rhea Chakraborty in her statement mentioned that Sushant had a three-film contract with the production house. But the production house did not allow him to work with the filmmaker citing stipulations written in the contract,” said a senior police official.
The cause of Sushant’s worry was that one of the leading production house, Yash Raj Films, easily replaced him with another actor, who signed a contract with the very same production house, citing stipulations written in the contract. Rhea also added that this happened back in 2013 and the film became a box office hit. Sushant felt cheated, as if his career was jeopardised and decided not to work on the third film with the production house, which had another actor as lead and Sushant in the supporting role.
Rhea told the police, the actor was keen to end his contract with YRF and tried to persuade her in doing so as well, the official said. “We will have to verify the claims made in the statement,” said the official. The production house should expect summons in order to verify the claims, from the police soon. Meanwhile, Mumbai police sought to learn the nature of the contract actor had with YRF.
