Rekha burst out in tears after being kissed by THIS actor without consent

Actor Biswajeet Chatterjee once kissed Rekha without asking permission, humiliating her.

Rekha, one of the most well-known names in Bollywood, was born as Bhanurekha to prominent South Indian actors Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli. Her life had been sad from the beginning. Rekha was always resilient, having overcome being born out of wedlock, her father’s rejection of her, and having to force herself into acting due to financial difficulties.

Rekha’s career in the glamour world wasn’t easy to begin with, as she entered the South Indian film business at a young age. She didn’t know Hindi, was plump, and had dark hair. She was heavily criticised for her dark, chubby appearance. Her pain extended beyond her appearance. Early in her career, Rekha, who had no interest in acting, went through several painful events.

She was forced to kiss one of her co-stars, which was one of the most traumatic experiences of her life. In the Bengali film Anjana Safar, Rekha starred alongside Biswajeet Chatterjee when she was just fifteen years old. The actor, who was 33 at the time, pushed himself on her as the movie was being filmed.

Rekha’s biography, Rekha: The Untold Story, mentions the notorious incident. The author said that Biswajeet chose to kiss Rekha during a romantic scene without even telling her about it. The kiss was known to the film’s director, Kuljeet Pal. Nevertheless, the actor subsequently claimed that the director had intended for the kiss to be a key element of the scene.

Rekha was the victim of the violent kiss that occurred throughout the scene. A passage from the book described poor Rekha’s state—she froze in shock. The passage can be read as follows: “As soon as the director Raj Nawathe said ‘action’, Biswajeet took Rekha in his arms and pressed his lips on hers. Rekha was stunned. This kiss had never been mentioned to her. The camera kept rolling; neither was the director ordering ‘cut’ nor was Biswajeet letting go of her. For all five minutes, Biswajeet kept kissing Rekha. Unit members were whistling and cheering. Her eyes were tightly shut, but they were full of tears.”

As her family wasn’t wealthy, Rekha made her acting debut at the young age of 13. Rekha first appeared in Bollywood with the 1970 movie Sawan Bhadon, following a string of small appearances in South Indian films. But despite a string of box office failures, Rekha became well-known for her roles in films like Umrao Jaan, Khubsoorat, and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.
