Prime Minister Narendra Modi to leave for Mumbai to pay last tributes to Lata Mangeshkar

The nation will mark two-day mourning on February 6 and 7 to pay respect to the veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and the mesmerised songs that she showered upon us.

Narendra Modi took over Twitter to express deepest gratitude. He also revealed that he’ll be attending Lata Ji’s last rites. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Will be leaving for Mumbai in some time to pay my last respects to Lata Didi.”

Narendra Modi’s call recording with Lata Ji on her birthday depicts how much love and respect they shared for each other. Describing relationship with Lata Ji, Narendra Modi wrote, “I consider it my honour that I have always received immense affection from Lata Didi. My interactions with her will remain unforgettable. I grieve with my fellow Indians on the passing away of Lata Didi. Spoke to her family and expressed condolences. Om Shanti.”

He also wrote, “Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India.”

Expressing condolences, the Prime Minister wrote, “I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people.”
