‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’ fame Manoj Kumar passes away at 87

Legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, fondly remembered as “Bharat Kumar” for his iconic patriotic roles, has passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai. His demise marks the end of an era in Indian cinema.

Manoj Kumar, whose real name was Harikishan Giri Goswami, was a towering figure in Hindi films during the 1960s and 70s. He earned widespread acclaim for his roles in films that echoed strong nationalistic sentiments. His notable works include ‘Shaheed’, ‘Upkar’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, and the widely celebrated ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’, all of which reflected the aspirations and struggles of the common Indian.
