Malayalam actor Mamukkoya passes away at the age of 76

The Iconic star of the Malayalam film industry died at the age of 76. Mamukkoya had a heart attack on the 24th of April while attending an inauguration ceremony for a football tournament held in Malappuram. Soon he was admitted to a private hospital in Vandoor but then was moved to another private hospital in Kozhikode for better therapy. The actor was kept on a ventilator for two days and still couldn’t survive the incident and took his last breath on the 26th of April.



Mamukkoya was an exceptional actor in Mollywood as he spotlighted movies through his role. The actor has acted in more than 450 Malayalam films and also appeared in the French movie, Flammens of Paradise. He was always seen doing comic roles and was favourably known for his Mappila dialect. Mamukkoya also becomes the first actor to earn a state award for best comedian.


As soon as the news regarding his death spread over the Internet, fans and celebrities started posting about the late actor. The prominent politician, Sreedhar Pillai took to Twitter and posted a tweet writing, “#Mamukkoya (77), one of the finest comedy actors ever in Malayalam cinema passed away. Who can forget this Kozhikode man, the epicentre of laughter in so many films? #RIP.”


While a fan shared a tweet saying, “There are certain actors who become a part of your life from childhood & whose names are synonymous with household recognition. Mamukkoya is such an actor who often appears in brief roles in his films, yet his witty one-liners & humorous expressions remain etched in our memories.”


Another wrote, “Actor Mamukkoya, aged 75, passed away. He was a phenomenal actor, a theatre artist, a humanist, an ever shining symbol of simplicity, who astonished the Malayali audience with his Kozhikode dialect. Another big loss which is irreparable to Malayalam cinema. Adieu to the veteran.”


The actor was married to Sahar with four children-Muhammed Nisar, Shahitha, Nadiya and Abdul Rasheed. He used to reside at Kozhikode.
