Two popular Khans of Bollywood industry (Shah Rukh Khan and Salman), also remarked their true friendships many a time over the years. Although, the most famous Khans of Bollywood are Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, they share same surname, same birth year and the same profession. Million of hearts is die-hard fan of these three Khans. However, today we will discuss about the Karan Arjun fame brothers- Salman Khan and SRK.
One interesting part is their birth year is same 1965 and SRK’s birth date is November 2, and Salman’s birthday comes two days after Christmas viz December 27. The pair share a strong and emotional bond of friendship; their bond of over 25-years has faces many ups and downs where they turned foes. The journey was a complete roller-coaster ride, where both turned friends to foe to frenemies to again friends.
However, in an interview, Salman shared, “We share a very positive bond and mutual admiration for each other. Shah Rukh Khan is a very dear and old friend. Even if we do not meet on a daily basis, we are very much in touch”, reported by Bollywood Hungama. Shah Rukh Khan also shared once about his bond with Salman Khan, “Salman and I are brothers”.
Here are some glimpse of their friendships:
Best brothers- Karan & Arjun
Salman Khan and SRK featured for the first time in action thriller Karan Arjun in 1995. During that time, the duo became best of friends in the B-Town and surprisingly made the film to be a blockbuster. Since then, the pair had slated copious films together, in the films likes in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. And, the duo hit their last screen in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam together.
Salman Khan became insecure of SRK and Aishwarya’s pairing once:
Aishwarya Rai had fallen head over heels in love with Salman Khan, in 2002. Unfortunately, which had not a happy ending.
As fear of losing Ash, made him see any male actors as a potential threat. Salman was so insecure of SRK and Ash pairing that he suddenly started brawling on the sets of ‘Chalte Chalte’ which propelled SRK to change his actress. And later Rani Mukherjee took the position, in place of Aishwarya. Post that incident SRK got her replaced in 4 other films. The most popular one was blockbuster film Veer Zaara, in which actress Aishwarya was replaced by Preity Zinta.
Meanwhile, in an interview, Shah Rukh Khan cleared the air by saying it was not Aishwarya Rai’s fault, “To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad as Ash is a good friend. Personally I think I did wrong. But as a producer it made sense. I apologised to Ash.”
Brawl between frenemies SRK and Salman on Katrina Kaif’s birthday:
In 2004, they buried the hatchet at Farah Khan’s pre-wedding party in Mumbai. Later, SRK asked Salman for making a guest appearance on Om Shanti Om, and reportedly Salman asked SRK to do a part in Main Aur Mrs Khanna. Salman accepted, but SRK declined the offer.
However, later Salman welcomed SRK and Gauri Khan to Katrina’s birthday bash and offered disparaging remarks in 2008, things took an uglier turn, as it is alleged that Salman took multiple digs at Shah Rukh for not doing a cameo in Main Aur Mrs Khanna. Shah Rukh gave it back to him and the two indulged in a heated argument which eventually became a physical one. Gauri and Katrina had to get involved, allegedly, to stop the two from hurting each other.
In 2018, SRK finally opened up about the incident. He stated, the combat had nothing to do with work but it was personal. Although, the two Khans are now friends and all the spats are now just history.
Salman’s presence during SRK and his family’s ‘in trouble’ phase:
Shah Rukh Khan once said Salman Khan will always be there if his family is ‘in trouble’, and here is how Salman has kept his promises-
As SRK and his family is truly having an adverse situation, as his son Aryan Khan arrested by NCB, at a drug rave cruise party. And, Salman khan was papped on SRK’s bungalow to meet him.
Another side, an old video from Salman Khan’s game show, Dus Ka Dum, is now going viral. The video shows special guest Shah Rukh Khan saying that he can always count on Salman to be there for him and his family in times of trouble.
In the video, Salman Khan asks Shah Rukh, “Apka hai koi thick and thin mein (Do you have a person who stands with you in thick and thin)?” Shah Rukh Khan promptly responded, “Salman yaar, mai agar kabhi trouble me hoon, actually, mujhse zyada agar meri family kabhi trouble me hai to tum ho. (If I am ever in trouble, actually if my family is ever in trouble, you are there).”
Salman nodded his head positively and the duo got emotional as they hugged each other; this incident happened in 2018.
