Kapil Sharma threatened by Kayastha community, comedian apologises for hurting religious sentiments.

Famous comedian Kapil Sharma on Thursday issued an apology to Kayastha community for hurting their religious sentiments. The Kapil Sharma Show aired on 28 March 2020, when the incident took place. After the unacceptable act, Kayastha community threatened to boycott the comedian’s show and lodge an FIR against him for making a joke on their deity Chitragupta.

He expressed regrets on Twitter. His tweet read, “Dear Kayastha community, I heard about The Kapil Sharma Show episode telecast on 28 March 2020. If the mention of Shri Chitragupta Ji has hurt your sentiments, then I and my entire team apologize to you. Our intention wasn’t to hurt anyone. I pray to God that may you all be safe, happy and keep smiling. With love and respect,”

However, Kapil’s fans thanked him for being a good entertaining source throughout in this lockdown, while some appreciated his tweet by saying, “We love you Kapil. Thanks for making India laugh in this difficult times. Watching your shows in lockdown.” Another user wrote, “No, sir we enjoy your episodes they are really stress busters hope you grow more and your show will go on”.

More than a month ago, Akhil Bharatiya Kayastha Sabha had objected to The Kapil Sharma Show’s content where they had made fun of Chitragupta. The heads of the association had discussed the matter over phone and had warned Kapil Sharma that if he doesn’t apologies, their community would boycott their show and would also file a legal complaint.

Kapil is currently in lockdown with his family in Mumbai. Last month he celebrated his 39th birthday at home and even celebrated Navratras with his baby daughter. He dolled up Anayra in a lehenga and choli for Ashtami puja.
