‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ actor Harish Pengan passes away at 49

The actor died as a result of liver problems.

Malayalam actor Harish Pengan passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 49. The actor passed away in a Kochi private hospital after suffering from liver problems.

Tovino Thomas, Pengan’s ‘Minnal Murali’ co-star, posted a moving tribute on social media lamenting the actor’s passing. A photo of the actor with the message “Rest in peace Chetta” was submitted by the user.

Pengan was hospitalised to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi earlier in May after complaining of stomach pain. It was determined that his health was critical after running a number of medical tests.

Pengan’s sisters decided to be the donor despite the fact that doctors recommended a liver transplant. The actor was also renowned for having financial difficulties.

His friends and peers from the industry pitched forward to seek financial aid for him including his friend Nandan Unni. His post on Facebook read, “My compatriot and dear friend, Harish, has been struggling to get back to life at Amrita Hospital, Ernakulam, for the past ten days. He was admitted to the hospital with minor abdominal pain and has serious liver disease. The doctors have suggested an urgent liver transplant. Harish’s twin sister, Sreeja, is ready to donate her liver. What is needed now is the huge amount required for the treatment.”

‘Malikapurram’ actor Unni Mukundan had also posted a call for help, earlier in May. However, Pengan’s condition kept deteriorating and he passed away on Tuesday.

The actor is well known for frequently appearing in minor roles in recent Malayalam blockbusters such as ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram,’ ‘Minnal Murali,’ ‘Jo & Jo,’ ‘Shefeekkinte Santhosham,’ and ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.’
