It has been a week since the controversial episode of Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent was released, but it is among the trending topics. Those involved in the show’s latest episode have been summoned by police, after an insensitive joke by Ranveer Allahbadia allegedly offended the sensibility. While the centre of the controversy has been Samay and Ranveer, the other guests on the episodes – Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija – have been in the line of fire. Apoorva, aka The Rebel Kid, has faced one of the biggest fallouts over the controversy.
She was named as one of the official ambassadors for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony that is set to take place in Rajasthan next week, has been removed from the list. In an official statement made by Divya Kumar, tourism minister and deputy CM of Rajasthan, “It has been mentioned on behalf of IIFA that the name of social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija has been removed from the list of IIFA ambassadors.”
However, the decision was not taken by the IIFA of its own volition. The fringe group, Karni Sena, has allegedly threatened to disrupt the shoot planned with Apoorva. A report by PTI quoted Dr Paramweer Singh Dulawat, division head of Rajput Karni Sena, Udaipur, saying, “Such indecent and uncultured people who are bringing their culture on the road for their selfish interest and spreading vulgarity will not only be opposed in Mewar but will be beaten with shoes.”
They further requested to the tourism department with an ultimatum that the social media influencer should not be coming to Mewar.
