Lata Ji blessed our ears with the best songs such as “Ajeeb dastan hai ye”, “Pyar kiya to darna kya”, “Neela asman so gaya” and “Tere liye”. She was awarded with Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.

Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Lata Ji has spent her childhood in Indore. She lived there for 16 years. The veteran singer has loved singing since her childhood because that came with her hereditary. Her father Dinanath was an actor in theatre and a classical singer.
The first song by Lata Ji did not get released. It was sung for Marathi film Kiti Hasaal in 1942. The veteran singer calls Ghulam Haider as her Godfather as they share very good relationship. Ghulam has always motivated Lata Mangeshkar to achieve more in life.
Not just singing, she has also learned acting from her father. At the age of 5, she started acting in her father’s musical plays- Sangeet Natak in Marathi.
Before exploring her own style of singing, Lata Ji used to imitate the acclaimed singer Noor Jehan.
Once she was given a slow poison by an unidentified person for which she was bed-ridden for almost 3 months.
However, she sang her one of the best songs Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo on 27 January 1963 in front of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It brought the Prime Minister into tears. The song is dedicated to soldiers.
Moreover, she composed music for the first time in 1955 for the Marathi film- Ram Ram Pavhana.
In an interview she expressed her two unfulfilled desires- singing for Dilip Kumar & meeting K. L. Saigal.
