EXCLUSIVE: Govind Namdev talks about his future projects, says ‘I am excited to play different roles’

In an exclusive interview, Govind Namdev shares unknown facts about NDS and speaks about his future projects.

Govind Namdev, who is known for playing as an antagonist on-screen and has made a powerful impact with his roles in films like Oh My God, Dum Maro Dum, Bandit Queen, Virasat, Satya, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Pukar, Raju Chacha, and Sarfarosh among others.

The 66-year-old actor reveals that he opted to be a bad guy since cinema back then was limited to only hero, heroine, and villain. But despite the restrictions, he experimented and delivered various shades that spoke for his versatility as an artist.

Govind states, “I have always been experimenting with my roles. If you’ve seen my negative characters onscreen, they’re quite distinctive from each other. None of them have the same shade. However, at a certain point, I did feel like I should do some positive characters. But if you look at the cinema back in the day, it revolved only around three main elements – hero, heroine, and villain. The positive ones were only used as fillers, which is why by choice I decided to be a villain.”

On asked about his future projects, he revealed that he has gone through various scripts this year. He further reveals that he signed 10 projects among which he has signed 5 films and 5 web series.

The actor will be seen playing the role of the father in Inspector Avinash which features Randeep Hooda in the lead role. He will also be seen in the web series ‘Paradox,’ in which he will play the role of a doctor and will be the bad guy. And two other series whose shooting has been completed but their title is yet to be unveiled.

Further, he talks about his film projects. He reveals he is currently shooting for Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. He will also be seen in The Battle of Bhima Koregaon which stars Arjun Rampal, Zee5’s State of Siege: Akshardham, produced by Contiloe Pictures and helmed by Ken Ghosh. He will also be featuring Karan Razdan’s directorial film ‘Hindutva,’ and currently signed a film called ‘Nashebaaz.’

Namdev expressed that he never thought he would be offered so many roles. The lockdown has affected everyone but now he is happy that he has a lot of films in his kitty. He is excited as all roles are different from each other.
