Director Pradeep Sarkar passes away at 67, Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpayee pay tribute

Early on Friday morning, Pradeep Sarkar passed suddenly from low potassium levels. Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, and Hansal Mehta have all paid respect to the filmmaker who is affectionately known as “Dada” in the film industry.

Pradeep Sarkar, a well-known director of movies including Parineeta, Helicopter Eela, and Mardaani, has died. He was 67. Pradeep Sarkar passed suddenly early on Friday morning at 3.30 am, according to Neetu Chandra, who confirmed the news said, “He was admitted to a hospital last night. He was not keeping well for a long time, he was on dialysis and had other health issues too. His funeral will be today at 4 pm in Santacruz.”

According to reports, Sarkar was receiving dialysis and his potassium levels had significantly decreased. Despite being transported to the hospital, he was not able to be saved.

Hansal Mehta, the director, paid tribute to the director on Twitter. Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpayee, both actors, also expressed their condolences.

“The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada,” Devgn wrote. Hansal Mehta shared, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.”

Sarkar gained fame for his efforts in the commercial cinema sector. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he also directed the now-iconic music videos for numerous more songs, including “Ab Ke Saawan,” “Dhoom Pichak Dhoom,” and “Maaeri” by Shubha Mudgal, among many others.

He began collaborating on films with Rajkumar Hirani, receiving credit as Munna Bhai MBBS’ co-editor. Parineeta, starring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt, was his debut film as a filmmaker. Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, starring Rani Mukerji, Konkona Sensharma, and Abhishek Bachchan, was the next film that Sarkar directed. Helicopter Eela, Mardaani, and Lafangey Parindey are among the films he has directed. His final film, Helicopter Eela, starring Kajol. Duranga, a web serial on ZEE5, was recently directed by him.

Kangana Ranaut revealed in October 2022 that she would be taking on the lead role in his upcoming movie Noti Binodini.
