In an interview with Bombay Times Anupam Kher said that “According to me, Hindi cinema has two eras. Before Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and after DDLJ. It has been amazing to be a part of this iconic film. It has been a trendsetter as far as my character is concerned. Every young person from anywhere in the world who has seen the film wanted his/her father to be like me… the kind of father I played in the film was a tribute to my father. He was exactly like the man I portrayed in the film. So this film will always be special. I am glad that people continue to love it.” A few only know that the title of the film was suggested by Anupam’s wife Kirron Kher.
