Day 7 of Johnny Depp libel trial: Staff confirms finding Depp’s severed fingertip near the bar, ex-fiancee Winona Ryder’s evidence delays

Day seven of the Johnny Depp libel trial went pretty much the same as the first six days. The testimonies were filled with insane tales of Depp-Heard marriage, which went completely off rails during the last two years of their marriage.

The case is related to a 2018 article in the tabloid newspaper that labelled the actor violent and abusive to his ex-wife Amber Heard. Whereas, the Caribbean actor Depp strongly denies the claims made in the article. Depp, the 57-year-old star, issued a notice against The Sun’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, and its executive editor, Dan Wootton, over an article Wootton wrote in April 2018 which tagged him as a “wife beater”.

On the seventh day of the trial, Depp’s ex-fiancee Winona was expected to appear in the court via video link from Los Angeles, to give her side of the events in support of the actor. However, due to time constraints, her appearance is pushed to the next hearing.

The previous day’s trial revolved around the infamous faeces that was found on the duo’s bed. After the sixth day of the preceding, New York Post reported a spokesperson for Heard saying, “This accusation is completely untrue and has been designed purely to humiliate Ms. Heard. As the evidence in court showed, Mr. Depp discussed committing such a prank for years beforehand and it plays to his lavatorial and abusive sense of humour. Mr. Depp’s team is trying to grab headlines – at the expense of the truth — and distract from the serious, central issue of this case: the perpetration of domestic violence.”

After this statement came out the defendant, The Sun lawyer, presented the court with the text message exchange between Depp and his then-assistant Stephen Deuters, back in October of 2013, in which Depp wrote, “Will you squat in front of the door of the master bedroom and leave a giant coil of dookie so that Amber steps in it and thinks that one of the dogs, primarily Boo, has a major problem… It’ll be funny!!!”

Earlier, Page Six also reported that the Caribbean actor suggested getting faeces DNA tested. The property manager Kevin Murphy also testified that after the faeces incident, Depp nicknamed his wife “Amber Turd.” The staff then revealed that the faeces weren’t the only odd incident that happened in Depp’s residences during his marriage to Heard.

Throwing light on the incident of Depp’s severed finger, Depp’s estate manager Ben King testified in favour of the incident claiming that, back in 2015, he once found Depp’s severed fingertip in a rental home the couple were staying in.

“The mirror behind the bar was heavily cracked and there was broken glass and other debris strewn on and around the bar. I was told that Mr. Depp’s fingertip had been severed. Whilst cleaning up the broken glass and debris, I looked for the fingertip and found it on the floor of the bar area,” King said in a witness statement.

The defendant claimed that it was the same day when the actor tried to write Heard’s name in pee on the carpet. King further revealed that he cannot confirm that claim and said, “I did not see any signs of urine, and I did not smell it, as I would have done had someone urinated around the house.”
