Boney Kapoor talks about “self-censorship” while reacting to Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark

Boney Kapoor, on Wednesday, remarked that freedom of speech does not mean anyone can make statements which are not socially acceptable.

The producer was recently asked about his take on the controversial comment made by Ranveer Allahbadia. “What he did is something which I don’t endorse at all. There have got to be limitation. There has got to be self-censorship also,” he noted.

He explained that one can talk about whatever they want when they are in an enclosed setting, however, while talking on social media, one needs to be careful and needs to discipline.

What is Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversy?

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has been facing massive backlash online for his insensitive comment on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. A complaint has also been filed against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija (who was also one of the guests on the episode) and the organisers of the show.

Earlier, Ranveer shared an apology video wherein he regretted saying what he said. Now, a couple of hours earlier, Samay ended his silence and revealed that he has deleted all the episodes of his show India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel. He explained that whatever is happening is a bit too much for him to handle.
