#BlackOutTuesday: Karan Johar, Shibani Dandekar, Lisa Ray among others stand in support to condemn the demise of George Floyd


We see a world with perfections but the reality differs! What we see may not always be true because the world is imperfect with flawed people who commit severe crimes that are unforgivable. George Floyd, a victim of racism, was mercilessly suffocated by a white officer in Minneapolis and as a consequence lost his life, a few days ago. This created a wave of protests against the culprits and people from all across the country. Slogans like ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Say No To Racism’, echoed in unisom on the streets and the Hollywood music industry announced a Black Out Tuesday on June 2 to stand in support of the protestors and to condemn the death of Floyd. Some Bollywood celebrities including Karan Johar, Nora Fatehi, Lisa Ray, stood in support of the initiative.

Lisa Ray took to her social media to post a black image. Extending her support to the black community, she wrote, “We wear the mask that grins and lies It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes This debt we pay to human guile With torn and bleeding hearts we smile – Simeon Marsalis’. [sic]


Karan Johar, who always stands for the wrong, also took to his social media to post a black picture and along with that he captioned, “#blackouttuesday

Farhan Akhtar’s girlfriend, Shibani Dandekar also took to her social media to share a series of images for the Black Out Tuesday. Along with extending her support towards black community, she compared the situation of this country, with highlighting, ‘Migrant Lives Matter’.
