Anne Hathaway reveals she suffered miscarriage while portraying role of a pregnant woman

Anne Hathaway says she experienced pregnancy loss before welcoming children with husband Adam Shulman.

The actress was asked about her second pregnancy announcement during a new interview with Vanity Fair, which was published on Monday, March 25. The actress elaborated on the section in the 2019 Instagram post that addressed women who are struggling with infertility.

Anne wrote, “For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies.”

She shared much more insight into it as she revealed feeling disingenuous to something all the way happy, when she is aware that the whole story is much more nuanced for everyone to know.

In the Vanity Fair profile, the actress revealed that she suffered a miscarriage when she was starring in Grounded in 2015. The movie is an off-Broadway play, which is based on a woman F16 fighter pilot whose career stalls after an unexpected pregnancy.

She shared that the first time when it did not work out, she had to give birth on stage every night. “It was too much to keep it in when I was onstage pretending everything was fine.”
