Ananya Panday opens up on how she faced thet understand the ‘cancel culture’; says, “I inquired whether I had been boycotted”

In a recent interview, actor Ananya Panday discusses today’s ‘cancel culture’ days after Aamir Khan and his film Laal Singh Chaddha were trending on Twitter, with many calling for a ‘boycott.’

Ananya Panday is actively promoting her forthcoming movie Liger. She was last seen in Gehraiyaan. Additionally, Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda makes his Hindi film debut in the sports-action drama. Ananya recently discussed the “cancel culture” that permeates Bollywood in an interview. The star claimed that because someone is being “boycotted” every day, she has learned to not take things too seriously. Ananya claimed that she even questioned whether she was being boycotted as “everyone is getting cancelled.”

Laal Singh Chaddha, whose theatrical debut is scheduled for August 11, recently made news when some social media users called for a “boycott” of the movie. Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who both appear in the movie, have commented on the boycott movement around it. Actor Alia Bhatt received criticism from certain online users before to the premiere of her Netflix film Darlings, with the hashtag “boycott Alia Bhatt” rising on Twitter.

Ananya has now acknowledged the current boycotting of movies and celebrity trends. “I believe it to be a cycle. Every day, someone gets boycotted or events are cancelled for everyone. We are veering off course. I even questioned whether I was still okay after a boycott. I learn something new every day. I was able to understand this. You must develop your filtering skills. You ought to be aware of what needs to be treated seriously. They don’t hold much importance for me, Ananya told India Today.

Puri Jagannadh is the director of Ananya’s first pan-Indian film, Liger, which will be released in theatres on August 25 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. It is the first movie Ananya and Vijay Deverakonda has made together. Puri Connects and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions collaborate to develop Liger. In the movie, which also features Ramya Krishnan in a key role, American boxer Mike Tyson also makes a brief appearance.
