Jammu Sugandh obtained the rights to the ageless cinematic classic Shakti, directed by the respected Ramesh Sippy, an act met with both delight and the great responsibility of honouring the film’s heritage. Tragically, Jammu Sugandh’s death left his family with a steadfast commitment to realise his ambition of recreating Shakti.
Shakti, a film acclaimed for its rich speech and emotional depth, was meticulously recreated, with legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan cast in important roles portraying the father-son connection.
Shree Narayan Singh, best known for his work on Toilet Ek Prem Katha, was in charge of this big project. Amitabh Bachchan was approached to play Dilip Kumar’s character, and initially expressed a strong interest in the movie.
However, as the script development phase advanced, Amitabh Bachchan proposed several revisions, motivating Shree Narayan Singh to act quickly to include these changes into the narrative.
Amitabh Bachchan’s passion for his role in the film, however the precise causes for the change remain unknown. There are questions over whether these issues are about the script modifications or the project’s timeline.
