Akhil and Naga Chaitanya respond to Balakrishna’s disparaging statements about Akkineni Nageswara Rao

After Balakrishna disrespected their legendary grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao, actors Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni issued a statement.

The speech given by Nandamuri Balakrishna at Veera Simha Reddy’s triumph party has made news. The actor stirred up uproar when he insulted legendary actors SV Ranga Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Actors Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni, as well as ANR’s grandsons, responded and returned it to Balakrishna with a statement.

Speaking at the occasion, Balakrishna said, “My father Sr NTR had some contemporaries, aa Ranga Rao (referring to SV Ranga Rao), Akkineni, Thokkineni, and some others” in reference to the famed actors Akkineni Nageswara Rao and SV Ranga Rao.

Naga Chaitanya reacted angrily to Balakrishna’s disparaging remarks about Akkineni Nageswara Rao and SV Ranga Rao on his social media accounts. According to the Manam actor, disrespecting the great actor is the same as lowering oneself. The declaration said, “Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao garu, Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu and S.V Ranga Rao garu’s creative contributions have been the pride and pillars of Telugu Cinema. Disrespecting them is degrading ourselves.” The similar assertion was also made by Akhil Akkineni. Nagarjuna has not yet responded to the debate.

Balakrishna’s speeches drew harsh criticism. His offensive remark against the Akkineni family did not sit well with internet users either. Additionally, he is the target of several online memes and trolls created by fans. He hasn’t yet commented on the matter in the meantime. It will be interesting to see if the Nandamuri actor retracts his offensive remarks.
