After playing Lord Shiv for 8 times, Tarun Khanna now wants to do a Rohit Shetty film

Tarun Khanna has played a lot of characters in the last two decades but has always been gravitated towards mythological and historical stories which have now made him the first choice of directors in this genre. He is most remembered for his role as Chanakya and the 8 times that he has donned the character of Lord Shiv. Yes, you read that right! And now he thinks it is time for him to move on from being an embodiment of Lord Shiv.

Currently seen as Lord Shiv in Devi Aadi Parashakti on Dangal TV, he talks about his experience while playing the character and says, ”When I was playing Raavn, I was looking at Mohit (Raina) and used to imagine of how I could play his character. I think God heard me and then I got wonderful opportunities as Mahadev back to back. But now I think Devi Aadi Parashakti is the last time I’ll be playing the character of Lord Shiv because there’s not a lot of variation I can bring to the same character and hence cannot do justice to the role.”

He has been a ramp model before entering television and these mythological characters seemed like a 180 degree flip for his personality even though he loved the stories. When asked about what he would like to do next, Tarun said, “I think only 5% of my actual potential has been seen by the audience which makes me want to do different kinds of characters in the future and explore my true potential. I would like to work in a Rohit Shetty film. Even though he makes massy masala films, he does touch a cord somewhere and is clear of what he is making and that’s what I love about him. I loved his Singham, Simba and would be very interested to be a part of something like that.”
