100 Years of Dev Anand: PM Modi shares throwback pictures as he remembers the ‘Evergreen Icon’

On the occasion of Dev Anand’s 100th birthday on September 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the great actor. He shared a couple of nostalgic images with the late actor on his official X account.

The Prime Minister referred to him as a ‘evergreen icon’ and praised his film. “Dev Anand Ji is remembered as an evergreen icon. His flair for storytelling and passion for cinema were unmatched. His films not only entertained but also reflected the changing society and aspirations of India. His timeless performances continue to influence generations. Remembering him on his 100th birth anniversary,” the PM wrote.

Dev Anand, widely regarded as one of the best actors in Indian cinema history, appeared in a number of blockbusters, including Guide, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Jewel Thief. He was well-known for his commanding screen presence.

After having a heart attack, he died on December 3, 2011, in London. He was 88. The iconic actor died barely two months after his last film, Chargesheet, which he directed and produced.
