The on-going nepotism debate has sought filmmaker Vikram Bhatt to take a stand for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who believes that they both have risen in their careers because of the love they received from the audience and not because of their fathers. Alleged suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput gave rise to the brawl of nepotism in which a lot of star kids seemed targeted by the audience. Some of the celebrities faced the repercussions quite hard like Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt who lost followers on their social handles by remarkable number.
Vikram Bhatt while speaking to Navbharat Times said, “If the audience had not liked the performances of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, they would have not become stars. The people are responsible for making them stars and not their fathers. There were several actors, directors who got an opportunity from their families but the audience didn’t like their work and rejected them. I believe that nepotism is a nonsense discussion that has been going on for quite a while now like many other nonsense discussions,” as put by Hindustan Times.
Vikram Bhatt took it further and talked to NBT about how entire B-Town is on everyone’s radar saying, “Film Industry is always targeted no matter what happens. In such a situation, we have already become the target of all. Now suppose there is a quarrel with Pakistan or something happens on the border (Pakistan Border Controversy), then you stop our artist, because stopping the artist is the loudest voice.”
Giving out an example of Sunny Deol’s son Karan and his film Pal Pal Dil Ke Pas which did not do well in the cinemas, Vikram Bhatt stated how Sunny Deol is not responsible for his son’s success being a star-father. “I have never been to a party where drugs have been taken by anyone. I have been to big parties. Somebody once told me that in some parties, different kinds of drugs are offered in trays. The guests then pick up the drug of their choice. However, I have never seen any such thing in the parties I’ve been to,” Vikram shared his views to Navbharat Times on the drugs connection of B-Town which is coming out vastly.
