
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy, Stree 2, has retained the original star cast with Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana. On Sunday, the makers Maddock Films took to social media platforms to share an update on the latest box office numbers – the film, as per them, now stands at a gross of over ₹500 crore worldwide. Their caption read, “Stree 2 shatters records with a LEGENDARY and HIGHEST ever 2nd Saturday in history! Thank you to everyone for your continued love and support. Book your tickets now…”
The accompanying poster of the film’s star cast said that Stree 2 had grossed ₹505 worldwide after 10 days in theatres – it’s India gross stood at ₹426 crore, while overseas gross was ₹78.5 crore. Makers claim that Stree 2 has added another ₹33 crore nett, taking its box office collection to ₹361 crore nett in India so far.
While Stree was based on a female ghost who was wronged in her mortal life, its follow-up is based on a headless villain called Sarkata abducts women with an independent voice.
The movie was released on August 15, and it clashed with Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein, which is a multi starrer as it featured Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, and Vaani Kapoor, and John Abraham starrer Veda.
