The Chinese inscribe a symbol on the disputed land near Pangong Lake

According to a recent satellite image that has been released, the Chinese forces seem to be using a different means to distinguish and thereby entrench its authority in the disputed area.

The Chinese forces continue to strive and reinforce its claim over the disputed area near the Pangong Lake in the Ladakh region. This time, they have resorted to incepting a symbol, which is particularly claimed to a ‘Mandarin’ symbol on the ground. The intricate fingers region of between India and China, consists of 8 fingers, from F1 to F8, the escalation in violence and deployment of forces by both sides have been regarding this congested strip. the aforementioned development is seen to have observed through satellite images in an are located between Finger 4 and Finger 5, this space covers the dimensions of approximately 81 meters in length and 25 meters in-breath/width.

This area of contention has been in the news for over month now, as the escalations lead to skirmishes resulting in the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers. the root problem here seems to be the very phenomenon of Line of Actual Control (LAC), which, opposed to the  Line of Control (Loc), that India shares with Pakistan is not definitive and certain. This, as, the Line of Actual Control(LAC) is derived in pursuance to the assumption and convenience of each individual country, without the other country’s consent.

Here in this case specifically the Indian side is believed to wield the region extending from F1 to F8, as against the Chinee claim of having control and patroling monopoly over the region spanning from F8 to F4

Standoffs between the two countries over the disputed areas are not a new phenomenon, as, India, which does not share a direct border with China is often at loggerheads with country, on areas that share a border with its own disputed province of Tibet. Although India has consistently expressed its right over territories in Arunachal and Sikkim, the Chinese incursion and claim to the territory has always been an Achilles heel to the Indian Authorities
