UP ATS arrests Al-Qaeda terrorists from Lucknow

Two men, Minaz Ahmad and Masiruddin, also known as Mushir were nabbed by the police. Both the arrested men are residents of Lucknow.

According to reports, on Sunday, police informed that an Al Qaeda unit was busted in Uttar Pradesh planned terrorist attack in the crowded areas of Lucknow and other cities in the state.

There was plan for a major bomb attack in Lucknow. The Kashmir connection of terrorist that have surfaced is being investigated by the authorities, as cited by ‘India Today’.

Two men, Minaz Ahmad and Masiruddin, also known as Mushir were nabbed by the police. Both the arrested men are residents of Lucknow. They have been arrested as a part of the operation.

At a news conference, Prashant Kumar, Senior police officer said, “Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) UP has uncovered a big terror module. The team has arrested two terrorists linked with Al Qaeda’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.” He further revealed that cache of arms along with explosive materials have been tracked down.

The police noted that as the searches were carried out, two suspects were detained from Kakori town in Lucknow. As far as the reports are concerned, search operations are being carried out at their respective houses.

Search operations is also being conducted in Shahid’s house. Shahid used to talk to Al-Qaeda and Pakistani handler Al-ul through the social media apps namely Telegram, ‘India Today’ noted quoting a source. Reports suggests that raids also coordinated in western Uttar Pradesh.

Reportedly, a high alert has been issued in Lucknow and adjoining districts of the states.
