This action comes after mishandling of politicians and stopping them from visiting the victim’s family and also after massive outcry by the public for justice for the victim, who was allegedly raped on 14th September by four men.

Today, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi along with other Congress delegation went to Hathras to meet the victim’s family and conversed for around one hour. Before the Hathras Administration has barricaded the district and no one was permitted to meet the family.

Today afternoon, in a sudden move the blockade was revoked, post which the Gandhis were allowed to enter Hathras and meet the family.

The woman succumbed to her injuries on 29th September in a Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, a fortnight after she was attacked. She was cremated in the dead of night near her home on Wednesday. Her family had alleged they were forced by the local police to conduct her last rites in hurry. This had triggered outrage nationwide and protests in several places.
