
Kitty Kumaramangalam, the wife of former Union Minister P Rangarajan, had been murdered on Tuesday night at her residence in Vasant Vihar.
The DCP South West police had said so far that one person was detained and the search for two other accused was on.
According to the information given by the police, the murder occurred on Tuesday night around 9 p.m, and the police had suspected that the incident occurred during the process of robbery in the house.
Kitty Mangalam was 67 years old and was alone in the house with only her maid at the time of the incident.
As reported by the police, the regular washerman came to Mangalam’s house around 9 p.m on Tuesday and he overpowered the maid when she opened the door and dragged her to a room to restrain her, while two other men entered and took hold of Kumaramangalam and suffocated her with a pillow. The accused then fled from the place, however, the maid untied herself and raised the alarm.
A call about the incident was received by the Police around 11 p.m on Tuesday. This led to the formation of a team and the accused Raju, the washerman, was caught by the police team.
Raju, the accused, is 24 years old and was a resident of Bhanwar Singh Camp in Vasant Vihar, and had disclosed the names of the two other accused to the Police.
