Suspended Senior IAS officer M Sivasankar appears before National Investigation Agency probing gold smuggling case in Kerala. Sivasankar was suspended after allegations surfaced that he had links with, the key accused Swapna Suresh in the case related to the attempt to smuggle gold through diplomatic baggage using the name of a person in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) consulate in Thiruvananthapuram.

Several rounds of investigation and interrogation have taken place in past few weeks, in the Sensational case  of gold smuggling. He is alleged to have links with the key accused woman Swapna Suresh. Earlier he was questioned by the customs department after they seized the gold, weighing over 30 kg and valued at around Rs 15 crore on July 5.
