Tata Starbucks today announced that Sushant Dash will be replacing Navin Gurnaney as the CEO of the company, who is resigning from this position to pursue other opportunities outside the company.
Tata Consumer Products, in a statement, said, “Sushant Dash will join Tata Starbucks as CEO Designate effective April 1, 2021, and take over as CEO on May 1, 2021.”
Dash will be the fourth CEO to administer operations of Starbucks India since it first entered Indian markets in 2012. Tata has been the 50% owner of Starbucks India since it started this joint venture with Starbucks. Tata was among the largest players in the Indian packaged beverage market and hence was the prime contender for the partnership.
Dash is an in-house official as he was a part of the team that opened India’s first Tata Starbucks and was directly responsible for the strategy and marketing of the Starbucks brand in the country.
Currently, he is the president of Tata’s packaged beverages business operating in India, Bangladesh, and the Middle East overseeing a range of the company’s packaged drinks and tea businesses.
The company has 216 stores in India across 17 cities, all of which fall under the operations of the Tata Consumer Products’ sub-segment called Tata Beverages.
