Samsung gets a firm hold over the foldable market with an extraordinary 88 per cent market share as per the latest report published by Counterpoint Research. However, Counterpoint also expects Samsung’s foldable market to grow three times more against the numbers in 2020. The shipments will currently remain in the periphery of the single digits range with an expected 9 million unit sales.

According to the report, the shipments will arrive more than double the stipulated numbers by the end of 2023 ensuring ten times the growth. Samsung will continue to reign over even with a market share of 75 per cent.

Apple on the other hand is expected to unveil a foldable by the start of 2023, it will enable foldable, a mainstream push along with its actual marketing weight to enhance the scale and bring improvement in the supply chain.

Counterpoint Analyst Jene Park, a Counterpoint Analyst said that “The new Galaxy foldable from Samsung will come with a significant price drop, improved design, and appearance, Samsung is likely to target younger customers with the new foldable Flip smartphone. The new Galaxy Z models will get S Pen support too, which can help absorb existing Note users.

However, the prime hindrance for the foldable market is the inflated pricing. These latest models of phones continue to be expensive, also in countries like the US that offer these models a monthly plan.
