Samsung smartphone brand tops to number 1 in the month July-August: Report

After a close competition with the Beijing, China headquartered Xiaomi smartphone brand in the April-June quarter, Samsung has replaced it as the number one smartphone brand in the September quarter.

The Counterpoint report on smartphone shipments for July and August has published that Samsung’s booked the top position in India as the number one smartphone brand. It has reached its highest market share since 2018. For the September quarter, the full report is expected to be published by the end of October.

As per the report. Samsung rebounding to the number one spot in India has resulted the brand to reclaim the top position in the global market in July-August> Samsung’s global market share accounted for 22% towards the end of August.

In India, Chinese brands have faced a huge backlash after the Chinese intrusion in Ladakh in June and the Galwan valley clash in which 20 Indian army personnel were killed.

The combined market share of Chinese brands in India dropped to 72% in the June quarter from 81% in the March quarter.

India had also banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok over security and data breach concerns.

The demand for Samsung phones surged in the June quarter. Their market share hiked with 10% in the March quarter margin from 16% to 26%.

In August, Huawei’s market share had dropped to 16% and Apple’s remained undisturbed in the third spot with 12%.
