RS Sodhi steps down at Amul MD, Jayen Mehta to take over

RS Sodhi stepped down as Managing Director of GCMMF on Monday and will be succeeded in the interim by Jayen Mehta.

On Monday, RS Sodhi, the Managing Director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), was removed from his position. The decision was arrived at at the Federation’s board meeting in Gandhinagar.

GCMMF is also known as AMUL. His office got also been closed. Jayen Mehta, Amul’s COO, has been appointed as interim MD.

When contacted, Sodhi confirmed PTI that he have resigned from the MD post. “I was on extension. The board has accepted my resignation,” he said.

The statement, signed by GCMMF Chairman Shamalbhai Patel and Vice Chamrian Valamjibhai indicated that the organization has chosen to terminate RS Sodhi’s services as Managing Director of the Federation with immediate effect.

When approached, Sodhi acknowledged to PTI that he had resigned as MD.

Sodhi joined GCMMF as a sales officer almost 40 years ago. He had been on a two-year extension.

Sodhi has been the MD of GCMMF Ltd (AMUL) since June 2010, and was also the President of the Indian Dairy Association.
