Reliance Jio beats Bharti Airtel, becomes India’s 2nd largest service provider

Reliance Jio records 58.85 lakh wireline subscribers whereas Bharti Airtel has reported 57.66 lakh subscribers in the month of February.

On Wednesday, April 20, Telecom regulator, TRAI reported that Reliance Jio has swapped places with Bharti Airtel in becoming India’s 2nd largest fixed-line service provider as of February 2022.

Reliance Jio records 58.85 lakh wireline subscribers whereas Bharti Airtel has reported 57.66 lakh subscribers in the month of February. With this Jio is just behind BSNL with a subscriber base of 75.76 lakh. Fixed-line service provider refers to the internet & calling services provided through cables.

Reliance Jio added 2.44 lakh more subscribers in February. The total number of fixed-line subscribers in the country was recorded at 2.45 crore in February. Meanwhile, Vodafone has lost 1.5 million subscribers due to the tariff hike. India lost over 3.7 million subscribers in the previous month.
