Reliance Industries appoints former IOC chairman Sanjiv singh as Group President of its oil-to-chemical business

Former Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) chairman Sanjiv Singh has been appointed as the Group President of the oil-to-chemical business run by the Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL). Singh, who superannuated from IOC on June 30 will now be a member of the oil-to-chemicals (O2C) business leadership team, according to a communication by RIL Executive Director Hital R Meswani.

“As a member of the O2C leadership, we look forward to his contribution in driving manufacturing excellence and transition towards making Reliance O2C a global leader in energy and materials, he said in an internal announcement according to reports.

RIL’s O2C business comprises of the group’s two oil refineries in Jamnagar, Gujarat, petrochemicals, fuel retail, aviation fuel and bulk wholesale marketing business and is in the process of breaking away into a separate unit as Reliance O2C Ltd to facilitate business with Saudi Arabia based oil behemoth Aramco, selling 20% of its stake for USD 15 billion.

Mr Singh will lead and drive the Group Manufacturing Services (GSM) organisation which is the backbone of the oil-to-chemical business and would assume responsibility for GMS areas in a phased manner over the next 3-4 months, according to reports.

Earlier the company had also hired former IOC Chairman Sarthak Behuria as a senior advisor for the firm’s retail business.
