A teacher of Physics Wallah, the edtech firm apologised for using a casteist slur, he made during an online lecture. Physics Wallah, on their official account on ‘X'(earlier Twitter) uploaded a video statement of Manish Raj, the teacher and said that inclusivity is among the company’s core values.
The company in their post stated that they deeply regret & apologize for the inappropriate remarks made by one of their teachers which hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community and the concerned teacher has rendered a formal apology. Promoting inclusivity is one of their core values and they would make sure that it’s not repeated.
Meanwhile, Raj said that he made the remark ‘unconsciously,’ and that his intention was never to hurt anyone.
In a video statement, Raj could be seen saying that a few days back while explaining a topic unconsciously and unintentionally, he said something that hurt many people. He wanted to apologise to the Dalit community and he was ashamed, and would never make that mistake again.
During the lecture he said,“Why did I even take up this profession? At times, I regret having to do this (teach). God, it would have been better had you made a C****r…I would have polished shoes. Then, my life would have been peaceful.” This statement of his became controversial within a short span of time.
However, his students came out for his support on social media, with some saying that a ‘half-baked’ video has been made to go viral to defame him
