MediaTek launches Dimensity 700 processor based on 7nm tech for affordable 5G smartphones

MediaTek has develop and released a new Dimensity 700 processor that will be utilised in affordable 5G smartphones. The new processor is based on 7nm fabrication, introduced a few months post the launch of the Dimensity 720 processor. The new 5G MediaTek processor is quite similar to the Dimensity 720 chip.

The budget 5G processor supports 1080p resolution for video recording, which is lower than 4K 30 fps support provided by MediaTek Dimensity 720. The processor also can also provide 1080p displays with up to 90Hz refresh rate. As for still shots, MediaTek Dimensity 700 is suitable for camera sensors with up to 64MP resolution and features multi-frame noise reduction and several AI enhancements. Two new chipsets were also unveiled by the company – MT8192 and MT8195 – for Chromebooks. Among the two, MT8195 is the speedier one and is based on 6nm fabrication with four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. “With our expanded Dimensity portfolio we’re bringing the latest 5G capabilities to every smartphone tier so more people can enjoy 5G experiences,” said Dr. JC Hsu, Corporate VP and GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “The Dimensity 700 has an impressive mix of 5G connectivity features, advanced camera capabilities like night shot enhancements and multiple voice assistant support, all in a super power-efficient design.”
