IRCTC reports 168% YoY surge in net profit to Rs 209 crore in Q3

It also proclaimed an interim dividend of Rs 2 per share for FY22 and fixed February 18 as the date for payment.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Tuesday reported an increase of 167.4 per cent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in net profit valued at Rs 208.51 crore for the third quarter that ended on December 31, 2021, against Rs 78 crores last year in the same quarter, mostly due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Revenue from operations has surged 141 per cent to Rs 540 crore for the December quarter against Rs 224 crore in the same quarter of last fiscal. The income for the quarter clambered 141 per cent YoY to Rs 540 crore from Rs 224 crore in the same quarter last year.

Moreover, IRCTC’s revenues from the internet ticketing business were more than double that of the previous year with a jump of 118 per cent to Rs 312 crore in the December quarter compared to Rs 143 crore in the year-ago period.
On the other hand, its tourism segment revenue increased 353 per cent to Rs 68 crore in Q3FY22 as compared to Rs 15 crore in the year-ago period.

It also proclaimed an interim dividend of Rs 2 per share for FY22 and fixed February 18 as the date for payment.

EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) jumped 195 per cent to Rs 279.1 crore in Q3 December 2022 over Rs 94.5 crore in Q3 December 2021. EBITDA margin stood at 51.6 per cent in Q3 December 2022 compared to 42.1 per cent in Q3 December 2022.

The shares of the company saw a jump of 0.38 per cent at Rs 838.75 on Tuesday’s closing session on the National Stock Exchange.
