IRCTC partners with Reliance to deliver food in trains via WhatsApp

In accordance with a YouTube video posted by Haptik, IRCTC’s Zoop and Haptik are collaborating to provide a meal delivery service aboard trains that uses WhatsApp. The system would let travellers reserve food from participating eateries using WhatsApp, while they are on a train.

Zoop, a food delivery service run by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has teamed up with Reliance-owned Haptik to offer online meal delivery on trains via WhatsApp. With this most recent collaboration, travellers may place food orders on WhatsApp through a chatbot without having to download any other apps.

It was interesting that people would receive meals while travelling in their seats. To place the order, passengers must submit their PNR number. Additionally, this IRCTC service includes real-time tracking.

Additionally, travellers can contact “Ziva,” a WhatsApp chatbot, by dialling +91 7042062070. To order food, they must submit their PNR number. Additionally, the chatbot would confirm the trip information and provide the passengers with the option of choosing the station where they want the food served. Passengers can use these services and pay in cash or online.

Passengers can follow their orders in real-time and provide feedback via the chatbot. The meal will be brought to the passengers’ seats after the train arrives at the chosen station, so they won’t have to get out.

More than 100 A1, A, and B category railway stations, including Baroda, Vijayawada, Kanpur, Tundla Junction, and others, presently provide this new service, according to PTI.

A tender that was released to employ a consultant for monetizing passenger data has been rolled back, it was recently revealed by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation. On August 26, 2022, a top IRCTC officer gave this information to the parliamentary panel headed by Congressman Shashi Tharoor. The tender was released by the train ticketing app earlier this month, and it sparked controversy due to worries about data privacy and the monetization of customer and passenger data. IRCTC additionally affirmed that it has abandoned the tender.
