HDFC Bank opens first all-women branch in Kozhikode

The Cherootty Road branch was inaugurated by the Mayor of Kozhikode, Dr Beena Phillip at a function on Wednesday, 17th August.

Banking giant HDFC has opened its first all-women staffed bank in the northern part of Kerala in the city of Kozhikode.

The branch of HDFC bank is situated in Cherootty Road which is a hub for traders in the district. The branch will have 4 bankers. This adds to all-women branches opened by the Bank in southern India and takes forward the bank’s inherent values of diversity and inclusion, a statement said.

The Cherootty Road branch was inaugurated by the Mayor of Kozhikode, Dr Beena Phillip at a function on Wednesday, 17th August.

The statement said,” HDFC Bank is driving diversity and inclusion within the organization with a special focus on enhancing gender diversity, As of March 31, 2022, women constituted 21.7 per cent of the workforce and the target is to increase it to 25 per cent by 2025.”

Sanjeev Kumar, Branch banking head, South (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerela) has said that the opening of the all-women branch is an example of the efforts taken by HDFC to take forward gender and diversity initiatives.

“We work relentlessly to support the women at our workplace and provide them with an ecosystem that nurtures their careers while being mindful of their unique challenges. Today, 21.7% of our workforce consists of women and we have set a target to increase this to 25% by 2025,” HDFC Bank said in its annual report FY2022.
