Coles, which has its headquarters in Melbourne, said on Tuesday that Weckert, who has been a member of the company’s senior leadership team since 2018, would take over on May 1 when Steven Cain steps down to retire.

According to the findings of the 2022 Chief Executive Women Senior Executive Census, the number of female CEOs working for companies that are part of Australia’s ASX300 index remained stagnant at 18 in 2018.

According to Coles, Weckert would earn both short-term and long-term financial incentives in addition to the set remuneration of A$2 million ($1.4 million).
