Adani Wilmar Limited, one of the fastest-growing food FMCG companies in India, has recently removed all of its Fortune Rice Bran cooking oil ads featuring Saurav Ganguli.
The BCCI President and former Indian cricketer, Ganguli suffered a mild cardiac arrest and therefore, the ads have been halted across all platforms. Ganguli endorsed the cooking oil which claimed to be good for the heart.
This campaign presenting Ganguli was trolled by social media users for promoting heart health. Many netizens questioned the campaign as ironically, the charismatic cricketer himself bore heart problems. Following this reproval, Adani Wilmar, the parent company of Fortune Oils, pulled down all their ads which included Saurav Ganguli.
According to statements, “Oglivy & Mather, the creative agency for the brand, is looking into the issue and is working on a fresh redressal campaign.”
In the meantime, the 48-year-old cricketer is recovering well and is expected to be discharged by 6th January 2021. A nine-member group of senior doctors discussed that angioplasty can be deferred as Sourav is responding ably.
