Bringing a much-needed reprieve from the scorching heat to the Delhiites on Tuesday morning, rainfall lashed parts of the national capital while Delhi has been reeling under extremely high temperatures of over 30℃, as per a report released by India Today.
It was mentioned by the MeT department that during the next two hours with winds at a speed of 20 to 40 km per hour thunderstorms accompanied with light to moderate intensity rains could occur over and adjoining areas of most places of the national capital, NCR, before the Delhi witnessed heavy downpour.
Although it was predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department on Friday, that 13 days after its usual date of 27th June, the monsoon shall reach Delhi NCR on Saturday, but it continued to miss its mark. The much-needed raindrops were still awaited till Sunday evening while the weather office predicted that rains would take another 24 hours to reach the national capital as mentioned in a Bulletin later on Saturday.
A clarification on the accuracy of the predictions made by the Indian Meteorological Department for the arrival of the Southwest monsoon in Delhi was released by them later on Monday, while the weather department accepted that its predictions were inaccurate.
A heavy downpour on Monday was been witnessed by all the southern States including Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab and Bengal.
