A revolutionary shift is on the horizon for metro rail passengers as the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) gears up to introduce a single app. This app will empower users to effortlessly purchase QR-code tickets, recharge travel smart cards, and book last-mile commutes through auto-rickshaws or cabs.
In collaboration with metro rail operators in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kochi, ONDC is poised to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on February 2.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has recently initiated steps towards integration by floating a tender for QR code mobile ticketing and card recharge, working in conjunction with ONDC and the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) platform.
The overarching objective is to provide commuters with a comprehensive solution through a single ONDC-integrated app, encompassing all their urban mobility needs. This transformative approach aims to streamline the user experience, making digital ticketing and travel-related transactions more accessible and efficient. As ONDC expands its partnerships, commuters can anticipate a range of interoperable apps to choose from, further enhancing the flexibility and convenience of their urban travel experiences.
