L&T bags large orders for water treatment business

Larsen and Toubro have managed to secure contracts for its water and effluent treatment business of valuation between Rs 2,500 to 5,000 crore, on Wednesday, the company said.

These projects are a part of the central government’s Jal Jeevan Mission which aims to ensure access of piped water for every household in India by 2024 and will be covering the districts of Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Agar Malwa & Singrauli which are amongst various districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The business has also secured an order to execute integrated infrastructure development works at Gwalior.

The schemes will cater to the drinking water requirement of 3,103 villages covering a population of 48 lakhs.

L&T said, “The scope of the order includes design and construction of intake structures, water treatment plants, transmission & distribution pipelines, master balancing reservoirs, overhead service reservoirs, setting up of pumps infrastructures and associated electromechanical & instrumentation works. It will also be responsible for ten years of operation & maintenance”.

L&T is an Indian multinational company engaged in engineering, procurement and construction projects, manufacturing, defence and service with an annual turn over of $21 billion.
