Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal seeks extension of medical bail

Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways, has approached the Bombay High Court for an extension of his interim medical bail. Goyal, who was granted two months of interim bail on medical grounds on May 6, 2024, has filed a new application citing his ongoing poor health and the recent loss of his wife to cancer on May 16.

The application was presented on Tuesday before Justice Manish Pitale. The court referred to a circular issued in February, which mandates that applications related to previously decided pleas be placed before the same judge. Consequently, Goyal’s application will be placed before Justice N J Jamadar, who originally granted the interim bail in May.

Goyal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in September 2023 on charges of money laundering and siphoning off loans amounting to Rs 538.62 crore, provided to Jet Airways by Canara Bank.
