IndiGo to launch business class on Delhi-Mumbai route from November: CEO Pieter Elbers

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, will introduce business class seating on its Delhi-Mumbai route starting in November, as confirmed by CEO Pieter Elbers. The airline plans to have all flights on this route equipped with business class by the end of the year.

Elbers shared that the next phase will include business class on flights from cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with a target of 40 planes equipped by the end of 2025. The airline expects this addition to significantly boost revenue.

IndiGo is tailoring specific routes for business class, focusing on services such as priority boarding and smooth airport transfers. While domestic lounges are not part of the offering, the airline aims to maintain cost efficiency while enhancing its premium service.

Elbers also revealed plans to launch a loyalty program soon, and emphasized India’s rapid growth as a key factor driving the aviation sector’s potential. IndiGo is expanding its fleet, adding one plane per week over the next decade to strengthen its global presence.
