We aim to hire 20,000 college freshers for FY26: Infosys

Infosys is set to hire over 20,000 college freshers in the financial year 2026, signaling a robust recovery in demand and a revival of discretionary spending across various sectors. This ambitious hiring plan follows the company’s positive hiring trend, with over 5,500 new employees added in the third quarter of FY25.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18 at the Davos 2025 summit, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh, said, “We aim to hire 20,000 college freshers for FY26.” He added that 270,000 of the company’s 320,000 employees have already been trained in “AI Aware,” underscoring the company’s commitment to AI integration.

Earlier, Infosys Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jayesh Sanghrajka stated on January 16 that the company plans to hire over 20,000 freshers in the financial year 2026, reflecting a recovery in demand and a revival of discretionary spending across multiple sectors.

Sanghrajka also confirmed that the company is on track to meet its FY25 goal of hiring approximately 15,000 freshers. This comes in contrast to its rival, HCLTech, which reduced its fresher hiring target from 10,000 to 7,000 due to enhanced efficiency and productivity measures, such as Project Ascend.

In the third quarter of FY25, Infosys hired 5,591 employees, marking the second consecutive quarter of net headcount addition after a six-quarter slowdown.

The company’s focus on AI and skill development comes at a time when the IT services landscape is evolving rapidly. With continued growth in its workforce and a planned wage hike cycle set to begin in Q4, Infosys is positioning itself for long-term success. The company’s ability to attract top talent while addressing seasonal revenue fluctuations demonstrates its strong financial health and growth prospects.
