VA Tech Wabag, a global player in water and wastewater treatment solutions, has achieved a significant milestone after a developer consortium was declared the preferred bidder for the Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As part of this development, Wabag has been named the preferred Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for the project.
The developer consortium includes Metito Utilities Limited, Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC, and SkyBridge Limited Company. The consortium was selected by the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), which oversees public-private partnership projects in the water sector across Saudi Arabia.
The Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant will be developed under a 25-year Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model. Under the proposed scope, Wabag will be responsible for the complete EPC execution, covering design, engineering, procurement, and construction of the treatment facilities.
The project will feature an initial sewage treatment capacity of 100,000 cubic metres per day, with provisions for future expansion up to 250,000 cubic metres per day. In addition to the core treatment plant, the scope includes an advanced treated sewage effluent (TSE) reuse system, a large-scale storage tank, and a 38-kilometre transmission pipeline designed to handle a throughput capacity of 350,000 cubic metres per day. These components are expected to support long-term wastewater management and water reuse objectives in the region.
